The largest cranial implant is surgically placed in Chile: it is made of synthetic bone
An implant designed to order by the Chilean startup ArcomedLab for a pediatric patient. The implant covers 350 cm2 of the head and was fully customized, to achieve better aesthetic and functional results. The operation was carried out in the public health system, at the Sótero del Río Hospital.
During the first quarter of this year, a 10-year-old patient successfully received the largest cranial implant in the country. During the operation, 350 cm2 of artificial bone developed in Chile and manufactured through a 3D modeling and printing system were implanted. The piece covers a large part of the patient’s head and was provided by the national startup ArcomedLab.
