Chilean startup lands in the United States with skull-facial implants that release drugs

Medical export technology. That is the line along which the local startup arcomedlab is working. It has just filed an invention patent application in the United States for a mechanism that allows it to integrate a drug release system that works with gravity, into its skull implants.

“Our implants are printed in 3D, they are not sculpted like old models. For the same reason, it is possible for us to work not only with the external surface of the implant, but also with its inner surface. We discovered a whole new world,” explains Ilan Rosenberg, cofounder and CEO of arcomedlab. Thanks to the development of their technology, they worked almost four years in research and another 18 months on the implementation of a nonelectrical mechanism that stores and then releases drugs by drip for up to 20 days after the implant is put in place.
